As if filling out all those information-loaded papers is not enough, often people will run into tax problems. There are so many different types of IRS tax problems that we cannot even begin to resolve them here. However, we will provide some resources that may be helpful in your search to resolve your tax problem.

The first thing you should know when dealing with tax issues is that you probably need to consult with a lawyer or a CPA. There are very strict legal issues and so most Internet websites refuse to put down any concrete information for fear of being sued. There are, however, a few websites out there that will provide some information with you.

TaxProblem.Org: This site is owned by some guy named Joe Mastriano. Joe is a CPA who lives in Texas. His site does have some good information on it although overall it comes off as one of those spam-filled websites that drags on and on and calls you to action every so often.

Some of the best advice on the site is that it warns you to avoid hiring someone who is not professionally licensed in the state they live in. The site also advocates keeping a sharp eye out for any who are claiming quick fixes to your IRS tax problem. As is usually the case with the government, nothing happens quickly.

If you scroll down far enough on the site, Joe does offer some good general advice for dealing with income tax problems. Of course, most of the information will eventually drag you into a course of action in which you will likely need to buy something from Joe or from a competitor. This is legitimate because it will likely end up costing you some money to fix your problem. If this were as easy as just reading about some information and making a phone call, then you probably wouldn’t need third party help.

Note that though Joe is located in Texas, he claims to be able to help individuals throughout the United States.

Overall this might be a decent resource, but we have a hard time placing a lot of trust in anyone who nicknames themselves a “killer IRS representative.”

JKHarris.com: This website is almost the exact opposite of “Killer Joe’s” website. A professional looking site doesn’t always mean better service, but we believe there is a correlation between the two.

One thing we liked about JKHarris is that they offer a free confidential tax settlement analysis. This way you can get a feel for your problem and what type of money you are looking at spending. If you don’t like what they offer, then you don’t have to take it, but at least you have some sort of idea of how much it will cost you beforehand.

Another interesting note about this resource is that JKHarris is open almost all of the time. The people are open from 7am until midnight most of the week. This makes a big difference for working people who are unable to take time off during the day to deal with their tax problem. They are also open on the weekend.

TaxHelpOnline.com: This site has an interesting layout where it lists 29 common tax problems. The site doesn’t offer the information needed to solve the problems for free of course. It does however give you a general feel for what an IRS audit is like. The site offers several solutions: a book that you can read, a phone consultation, or a yearly package.

MyTaxProblem.org: We thought we should give the lawyers a chance now that we have talked about some sites that belong to CPA’s. MyTaxProblem.org functions through attorneys who specialize in taxation. They offer a free consultation. Note that attorneys may cost more than CPA’s due to the fact that they are attorneys. However, they may also provide a better service.

That sums up our discussion on some of the resources available to solve your tax problem. If you can think of another resources to add to the list please comment below.
